Halloween Fun Facts

  • In 1584, after French explorer Jacques Cartier explored the St. Lawrence region of North America, he reported finding "gros melons." The name was translated into English as "pompions," which has since evolved into the modern "pumpkin."
  • When trick-or-treating first became popular in the United States in the 1800s, more children played mischievous pranks than asked for candy.
  • The weight of the world’s biggest pumpkin has been variously listed as 1,061 lb., 1140 lb., 1385 lb., and 1,502 lb., in Paletine, Illinois.
  • Of all the candy sold annually, one quarter of it is sold during Halloween time (September – November 10) making it the sweetest holiday of the year.

Getting in the GROOVE of things: Winter Tires

It’s the first snow fall of the season, you’re driving home and traffic is at a complete halt. You think to yourself in complete frustration “Why does everyone forget how to drive when it snows?”. Don’t get me wrong there are plenty of careless drivers out there, but when it comes to snow sometimes the best drivers have little control over a vehicle that is not equipped for the winter. I’d like to consider myself a pretty good driver, but accidents happen to the best of us, we may not be able to control the weather conditions, but what we can control is ensuring our vehicle is safe for the winter season.  You may think you are fine with your all season tires, but do you really want settle for just “fine” when it comes to your safety. On average Canadians spend 18 hours a week driving, with all that time spent on the road a small investment in winter tires can go a long way.
Note: Since 2008 all registered Taxi & Passenger Vehicles in Quebec must have snow tires between Dec 15 - March 15 by law. Ontario may be next.
Let's Face the Facts
The grooves in winter tires are about 30 % deeper than those in all-season tires, and they grip more effectively. Study Tests show a difference of 26 feet, when stopping with Snow Tires vs Performance Tires when driving 10 kms/hour.
The Quebec Ministry of Transport conducted a test of Winter Tires vs All Season Tires. The conclusion shows that a proper winter tire can improve braking by up to 25 percent over all-season tires and can improve avoiding a collision by about 38 percent.

Tires marked with this image meet specific performance requirements, and have been specifically designed for use in severe weather conditions.
Tires marked "M+S" (Mud + Snow Tires) or "All Season tires" are not suitable for severe weather conditions.
Wide, High Performance Tires are not suitable for use on snow covered roads.
The importance of installing all four winter tires is to maximize their efficiency. Snow Tires will assist you to control your vehicle safely in slippery conditions. Mixing tires reduces the level of safety.

THE VALUE OF ZERO

What does zero mean to you? Well to Most of us it means absolutely nothing. It has the value of nothing, zero adds up to nothing, it really did mean nothing. Just when we thought we couldn't do anything with Zero The Nissan Leaf changed the game. A vehicle that has ZERO emissions suddenly makes zero worth something. We now have the power to change the way we affect the environment, with the same way we were destroying it. DRIVING. The Nissan Leaf truly is automotive innovation at its finest.  Watch this video and see an all new prospective of the value or zero.
